I have a question for you. How important are video captions? I’m having trouble with YouTube video captions and because they are not processing correctly I am running the risk of missing a publishing deadline for my first fireside chat video.
I’m testing a handful of options to fix this but in the end, I might have to just do it by hand.
So my question to you is this. Would you publish without the captions or would you delay the release to include them? I could really go either way, but what I do know is captions have a huge impact on engagement especially when watching on social platforms like Facebook or LinkedIn. Many folks will see what the first few words are on a muted autoplay video before they decide to commit to watching. How about you? Do you read the first few words before committing or should I just go ahead and post the episode without captions?
Keep in mind, my deadline was just a personal goal to publish my first piece of content. No clients were harmed or disappointed in the making of this video.
